Current Opportunities to get involved
1: Breaking the Cycle: Help us Build Better Support for Local Families
Are you raising a family while trying to stretch every penny?
Do rising living costs, debt worries, or the stress of juggling everything sometimes feel overwhelming?
If so, you’re not alone, and we want to hear from you.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg Mind is working in partnership with Citizens Advice Bridgend, Citizens Advice Merthyr and Citizens Advice Rhondda Cynon Taf on a new project called Breaking the Cycle and we would love you to be involved. Breaking the Cycle is a project about understanding how money worries, stress, and everyday life pressures affect families across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region.
We want to explore what kind of support would genuinely make a difference, whether that’s practical money advice, mental health support, or other services that help families feel more secure and less overwhelmed.
This project is about listening, not judging. It’s about learning from real experiences and making services work better for the families who use them.

🗣️ From feedback to change ✨
"How does my feedback make a difference?"
Your feedback has played a vital role in shaping our new Open Access Mental Health service. Through conversations, surveys, and shared experiences at the end of 2024, almost 500 local people told us clearly that they needed mental health support that is easier to access, more responsive, and better tailored to people’s circumstances.
Our community told us they wanted quicker access to free support, including someone to talk to and the ability to reach help through accessible phone support and drop-in sessions. There was also a strong message about the importance of early intervention, confidence and resilience building, and preventative education such as workshops and self-help support. Many respondents highlighted the need for more holistic support. We also heard how important it is to provide tailored support for different groups, including children, young people and families, people experiencing trauma, veterans, and individuals with learning disabilities or neurodiverse needs.
Your voices helped us understand the barriers many were facing and what a more accessible service should look like. Because of this valuable insight, we were able to make a strong case for change and successfully secure funding through the National Lottery Community Fund to bring Open Access to the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region, a service that offers more flexible ways to access support, focuses on early help and prevention, and connects people with the wider support they may need.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives. Your feedback has directly influenced the design of this service and will help ensure that mental health support is more inclusive, responsive, and accessible for our community. Whether in person, by phone, video call or message, you’ll be able to reach out for same-day emotional support from December 2025.
Your voices have made this possible. This is a service built by and for our community. Together, we are making a difference! ![]()
