Your Money Matters

Your Money Matters

Money and mental health are often linked. Poor mental health can make managing money harder and worrying about money can make your mental health worse.

Your Money Matters is a free service advocacy service for in-patients at the Royal Glamorgan Mental Health Unit. We won’t make decisions for you, but we will provide you with clear information so you can decide for yourself.

What can it do for me?

A financial advocate can help with:

  • Liaising with the NHS / DWP on your behalf;
  • Advising you on rights to income;
  • Supporting appeals and tribunals;
  • Making benefit applications;
  • Setting up a bank account;
  • Organising your finances;
  • Advice on settling unpaid bills;
  • Advice on direct debits/standing orders;
  • Contacting utility companies
  • Negotiating prices with third parties, e.g. solicitors any other financial matters.
